BACKGROUND Michael Jungreis, a shareholder, has practiced law in Alaska since 1979. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation (including bankruptcy) and assisting businesses in their formation and transactions. His litigation experience includes numerous trials and appeals, and includes many facets of business and real estate. Recent matters handled include disputes in the real estate, hotel and lodge, commercial fishing, construction, banking, and insurance areas. Mr. Jungreis practiced with Hoge and Lekisch and joined Hartig Rhodes in 2000 when the two firms consolidated. Mr. Jungreis has also negotiated and documented business transactions, including the formation of new businesses, reorganizations, sales of assets, leases, intellectual property licenses, and other contracts. He has in the last few years become involved in issues regarding electronic commerce and intellectual property. In the 1980's he worked in private practice, primarily in the area of commercial litigation. From 1991 until 1993 he worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Agency, where he was the Section Chief in charge of Alaska litigation and supervised an eight-lawyer litigation section. As well as his supervisory duties, he worked on the larger and more complex cases directly, including the MarkAir bankruptcy and a number of disputes with major real estate developers. Clients he has recently represented include a major insurance company, an international software company, banks, utilities, an oil-spill response organization, commercial real estate owners, a national laundry company, a Native corporation, and many other businesses. Mr. Jungreis lectures frequently on a variety of business-related legal topics, including electronic commerce, sales, and licensing of intellectual property. |
